The BIG Moment Arrives!

For a couple of days Bec hadn't been feeling too well with pains along the top of the bump. With the due date only days away we put it down to the imminent arrival of the 'little fella'. We watched "The Incredibles" on DVD on the night of Saturday 11th June and went to bed at around midnight. Bec couldn't get to sleep and we got up at about 3am and Bec had a bath and did what she could to feel better. After a long and wakeful night by 8:30am we decided to call the hospital and by 9:30 we were in the hospital and Bec was having a blood test. She was starting to feel better and we were

joking about the false alarm when the results of the blood test came back and it was "time to have this baby"

Bec's blood pressure was high and the pains she'd been having were from her liver. She had a form of pre-eclampsia and would have to be induced. Our birth plan went out the window with Bec hooked up to monitors and a drip and 'labour' started at 1:30pm.

Following a difficult and stressful 4 hours, with no epidural allowed, the time came for the baby to be born but it wasn't to keen to make it's entrance so the suction cup had to be used to help it along. At 5:36pm an exhausted Bec gave a final push and the baby was born...it's a boy!

Birth Details

Our beautiful baby boy was born at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (the RPA) in Sydney at 5:36pm on Sunday 12th June. He was delivered by our midwife Theresa and the baby doctor on duty. Mum was 'partnered' by Dad during the labour but all he could really do was be supportive and keep her refreshed with ice chips and wet flannels!

First Visitors

After our first night together as a family we had our first visitors on the afternoon of Monday 13th June. first to meet baby Euan were Adrienne, Ian, Mike and Emily.
